Megan Robinson

Indiana

My name is Megan Robinson; I am from a small town in West Central Indiana. I grew up on a farm with many livestock animals and I have always had a love for the outdoors. No one in my immediate family was a hunter, therefore, it wasn’t until about 8 years ago, when I was still skeptical about what “hunting” meant, that I developed a new found passion.  It was mid-October with deer season already underway when my little brother decided he was going to harvest a deer. I wasn’t sure how I felt about this idea, until he showed up with this buck and a hunting story to he’d be able to tell for years. That was the day I knew I needed to learn more about hunting and conservation of these animals I loved so much.

The following spring my friend and I went to the local archery shop, where I purchased my first bow. I spent the hours practicing and learning everything I could about deer hunting. I spent many hours in the field that fall on my own and eventually harvested my first buck with my dad by my side on his 50th birthday! I will never forget the feeling of watching all my work come together and the respect I felt for that animal. I have since harvested many different species, and with each one I am grateful. I took a leap of faith 3 years ago and bought my first birddog. I trained him on my own and with the help of a friend at a local preserve, and he will forever be one of my favorite hunting companions!  Bird hunting of any kind quickly became of my favorite type of hunting, but I have many large game animals that are still on my bucket list.

Hunting and Fishing is my passion and it’s important to me to share that love with anyone who has an interest. The knowledge of each animal and the work it takes to harvest them continues to teach me something new all the time. I learned quickly as a young hunter that it’s not always about the harvest, but the experience within each hunt that is always rewarding. We live in a world where this passion is under fire every day, and it’s our job to continue respectfully defending these rights for generations to come. As a team member of the Huntress View, I am thankful to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience of the wonderful outdoors and to learn from each wonderful huntress I meet along the way!
