Preserving Wild Game

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of FoodSaver®; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

National Hunting and Fishing day will be here September 22, and there’s no better way to spend the day than in the great outdoors reconnecting with friends and loved ones! Most likely the day will be spent hunting or fishing, so let’s not forget about preserving our wild game that is harvested. Keep your game fresh by bringing along your GameSaver ® Big Game™ Vacuum Sealing System by FoodSaver® so you can not only enjoy your day, but the meals to come as well!

Here in Missouri, dove season opened on September 1st and I kicked off the hunting season by spending it in the dove fields all weekend with family and friends.

Many spent shotgun shells and a sore shoulder later, we had plenty of doves to feed us for the weekend and beyond. All of the extra doves were sealed using the Big Game™ and GameSaver® HeatSeal Bags and Rolls which keeps game fresh up to 5X longer than ordinary storage methods thanks to their durable, tear resistant material. Freezer burn is also not a concern, as the bags and rolls block moisture and oxygen once sealed.

I vacuum sealed the extra bacon and jalapenos as well that we had on hand for dove poppers.

(See my recipe for Baked Jalapeno Dove Poppers here)

As the hunting season progresses and we move onto pursuing other upland birds, waterfowl and big game, the Big Game™ can be used quickly and easily to process game with up to 80 consecutive seals, or up to 240 pounds. That is a huge game changer for those like myself that do their own processing!

Another advantage of the Big Game™ is how easy it is to transport. It’s lightweight and has an extra-large carry handle, so all you have to do is grab it and go! It’s field-ready and has a 12-Volt DC adapter to use with your pickup, boat, RV, and more, making it perfect to take along on your hunting and fishing trips.

This National Hunting and Fishing Day, my family and I are looking forward to stepping away from technology and reconnecting with each other in the great outdoors. Thanks to the Big Game™, I can rest assured that my family and I will be able to enjoy each other’s company and the wild game that we harvest without the headache that is often involved during the processing. I encourage you and your family to do the same, not just on September 22nd, but the upcoming hunting seasons as well!
