Product Review: Isle Royale Outfitters Featherweight Jacket, Trail Long Sleeve, and Trail Leggings.

With so many outdoor clothing lines out there, how do you pick what’s right for you? Finding the right fit can be a daunting task. You want something that is comfortable, functional and isn’t going to break the bank. Another thing to keep in mind, is "What company are you buying from?”. You don’t want to support a company that isn’t supporting you back.

Isle Royale Outfitters makes sure to put women first. They refuse to “shrink in and pink it” making comfortable clothing for women of all sizes. They encourage more women to get into the outdoors whether you are hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, climbing, or kayaking, these clothes can withstand it all.

Now I must admit, I haven’t been able to try all of these activities in this apparel. What I have tried, proves that this company is making a durable and comfortable product that can make it through any season. Trapping season can be rough on everything and I usually end the season with a few new holes in my bibs and jackets. The Isle Royale leggings make for a great base layer that allows for stretch and comfort. The long sleeve is made from the softest material I've ever felt providing warmth and movability. And the jacket will be perfectly lightweight for anything outdoors when the weather turns warmer this spring.

  • Odor resistant

  • Collapsible hood

Size and Fit (I’m 5”6’ and weigh 120 Ibs)

Size Small: It fits well over a sweatshirt or a t-shirt. The bottom can be cinched tight or left loose. It’s not long but can be tightened to sit perfectly on your hips. The sleeves are a tad short but have adjustable velcro cuffs that can be tightened to stay in place.

The removable hood allows for diversity in the style. Big pockets for plenty of storage space. Mesh interlayer for cooling and comfort. Adjustable cinch-around waist for better fitting. Adjustable velcro around wrists for comfort. Inner zipper pocket for more storage.

Trail Long Sleeve

Features (from

  • Comfort-cut scoop neck

  • Thumbholes

  • Anti-odor

  • Anti-bacterial

Size and Fit (I’m 5”6’ and weigh 120 Ibs)

Size Small: The sleeves are long which is exactly how I like them. The thumbhole is high enough on the cuff to be used or not used, whatever is preferred. I would consider the length to be long for full coverage. It fits loose in the middle and is somewhat tight on the arms and hips.

Butterfly soft bamboo blend material for a lightweight feel with buttery softness. It is antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and eco-friendly. The thumbholes on the sleeves are great for holding the sleeve down while not being restricted.

Trail Leggings

Features (from

  • V-shaped waistband

  • Durability

  • Flexibility

  • Strong, flattering fit

Size and Fit (I’m 5”6’ and weigh 120 Ibs)

Size Small: Nice and long. They fit tight and don’t fall down. True to size. Somewhat high rise around the waist but can be folded down for a low rise feeling fit as well. Tight around the ankle and very fitted throughout with a non-see-through stretch.

Tight and cute for everyday wear or as a functional base layer to fit under clothes without slipping. The side pockets are my favorite features for handy storage with easy accessibility. These leggings don't ride up or slide down and have the perfect amount of stretch.

Overall Thoughts

So far the Isle of Royale leggings, long sleeve shirt, and jacket have exceeded my expectations. I wear the leggings as casuals at least once per week. They’re holding up nicely with no tears or seams coming apart. The long sleeve gets worn often as a base layer because of how soft and warm it is. THIS SHIRT IS SERIOUSLY THE SOFTEST SHIRT I OWN!! The jacket is more for the warmer season and I will be providing more feedback on that in the future.

I would highly recommend the leggings and the long sleeve if you are looking for comfort, function, and style!
